Coastcare in Action Highlights Tūtūkākā Coast Dunes

The Northland Regional Council is hosting Coastcare in Action ~ Tūtūkākā Coast: Dunes & Community at Ngunguru Memorial Hall on Friday, 30 January at 3 PM. The event will run for one hour and is open to members of the public.

Attendees will learn about the important role that dunes play in protecting the coastline, supporting communities, and providing habitat for native plants and wildlife. The session will also cover the impact of invasive weeds on dune health and the local initiatives underway to manage weeds and restore native vegetation.

As part of the program, students from Ngunguru School will present a video highlighting their dune restoration work, demonstrating how local communities can actively contribute to environmental protection.

Registration is available online via the Northland Regional Council website at www.nrc.govt.nz/communityhui or by scanning the QR code on the event flyer.

The event provides a practical opportunity for the community to engage with local conservation efforts and gain a deeper understanding of the ecosystems that help sustain the Tūtūkākā Coast.
