Features
Hikurangi Community Library
Discover the heart of the community at the Hikurangi Community Library, a welcoming volunteer-run space located on King Street and owned by the Friendship House Trust.
With around 100 books rotated monthly from the Whangārei Mobile Library Bus, along with new titles added regularly, there’s always something fresh to discover for readers of all ages.
The library is now also open on Saturdays from 10am to 1pm, thanks to the dedication of local volunteers Jennifer Hemara and Joan Dempster. Visitors are encouraged to drop in, browse the shelves, and support this valuable community resource.
More than just books, the library offers WiFi access, public computer use, photocopying, document scanning, puzzle hire, and “The Vault” workspace available for hire. A community jigsaw puzzle table is also available, along with Lego and Duplo for younger visitors, making the library a great place for families to spend time together.
